Charlie Madelyn David was born December 14, 2022. She is our first child, our only daughter, and big sister to her two younger brothers.
With her birthday so close to Christmas, Charlie was and is our greatest Christmas present. Her nursery was finished and waiting for her. Presents with her name on them were under the tree, bows were ready to be worn, and our mini Goldendoodle, Lola, was waiting to meet her.
Like any parents, we had already imagined so much of the life ahead of her. We pictured ballet and dance classes, all the bows we would put in her hair, and simply getting to watch our little girl grow. When we think back to the time we had with Charlie, one of the little things we’ll always remember is just how much hair she had.
Charlie remains an important part of our family. Because her birthday is so close to Christmas, she has a Christmas tree of her own. Each year we choose a new ornament for her tree, something that we think she would have liked. It’s one of the ways we continue to honor her as our family grows.
After losing Charlie, we found support from people who understood a loss we never imagined we would have to endure. The people we met and the events held by A Memory Grows and M.E.N.D. helped us cope, remember Charlie, and realize that we weren’t alone in this journey.
I eventually began leatherworking as a creative outlet after our boys were asleep. One day I came across a small teddy bear charm made from leather, and my mind immediately went to Charlie.
We have a Molly Bear that represents Charlie and has become part of our family, including joining us in family photographs. Seeing that little leather teddy made me think about what a bear can represent to a family like ours: something small and tangible that acknowledges a baby who will always be part of the family.
That became the idea behind Charlie Teddies.
Each Charlie Teddy is a handmade leather teddy bear keychain created in Charlie’s memory and donated to a family experiencing pregnancy or infant loss. We hope that something made in memory of our daughter can offer another family a small reminder that their baby is remembered and their life matters. We hope this little bear gives you comfort in knowing you are not alone.
She spent only a moment in our arms, but is forever in our hearts.
Why Charlie Teddies
A small keepsake with a lot of meaning.
Each teddy is cut from leather, finished by hand, and given as a remembrance piece. The name “Charlie Teddies” is intentional: they are little teddies from Charlie.

Our first priority is providing teddies at no cost through infant-loss support groups.
Remembered
Each teddy is meant to be a small reminder that a baby’s life and memory matter.

Charlie Teddies are handmade and donated to organizations that support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.
We are beginning by donating teddies to A Memory Grows and the M.E.N.D. Dallas | Fort Worth Chapter. Both organizations provide support and resources to families navigating the loss of a baby.
As Charlie Teddies grows, we hope to work with additional organizations and reach more families in Charlie's memory.
Additional teddies
In the future, families may be able to purchase additional teddies for spouses, grandparents, siblings, or friends. If we offer that option, it will remain separate from the donated program.

The meaning behind CMD
Charlie has always been part of the name.
CMD Leather Goods was named in memory of our daughter, Charlie, and carries her initials. What started as a passion for leatherworking eventually gave us another way to carry her memory forward.
Charlie Teddies grew from that connection. Each teddy is handmade through CMD Leather Goods and given in Charlie's memory to families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.
